Someone who has just watched a film may want to see more of the director’s work. Someone with a project may need a production team. Both are reasonable reasons to visit, but they call for different information.
That is why I keep this personal site alongside the ONCE website.
The personal site
Here I can show work from different periods and write about things I am still thinking through: what to watch for on a shoot, how to write a treatment, and where AI images help or cause problems.
Credits need to stay specific. Directing, planning and line producing are different jobs. Working on a project does not mean I did every part of it. Earlier work also keeps its original organisational context.
The company site
ONCE is more direct: what the team does, the projects and how to get in touch.
If you already know what you need to make, that is the place to discuss the brief, timing and budget. You should not need to read several of my articles to find a contact link.
Links
When an article mentions a film, it should link to it. When a tool has an example, it should sit beside the instructions. Readers can follow an interest or go straight to the file they need.
I do not want both sites repeating the same introduction. The personal site leaves more room for my thinking; the company site explains the collaboration.
Chinese and English
English can use a different phrasing without changing a role, date or file version. A translation does not need to turn an ordinary experience into a larger achievement.
The website will keep changing too. What to add and which links are hard to find will become clearer through use. Building This Website describes the current arrangement.
